He also states the evidence is not there to confirm Joseph Smith's claims.The conclusion states that the content of the text is probably a literary composition, most likely influenced by a religious viewpoint, but it has never been proven its real origin. He notes that the chances of the text actually being a true document are unlikely because the characters used in the text are usually very dissimilar to the ones of other ancient writings. In fact, many ancient texts were copied from already existing sources.This article by James B. Allen is written well and the author has created a great essay that addresses a question many Latter-day Saints have. It's a good piece of writing. It seems more accurate to state that you can know the answer to the question posed, but you can't answer it as fact without trying to figure out what's really true.This Gospel Topic Essay is very informative and from my perspective provides some valuable information. It's well written and provides a look at the LDS Church and some of the methods they use to deal with the problem of 'truth'. Take a look.
